A Clinical Experience of Direct Deltopectoral Flap Combined with Neck Dissection

Abstract
In general, the regional arterialized skin flap is very useful for reconstruction of anatomical structure, for restoration of function and for protection of vital structures in head and neck
surgery.
The purpose of this paper is to find out the superiority of immediate deltopectoral flap in neck dissection.
Authors performed 9 immediate deltopectoral flaps to 9 patients at department of surgery, Seoul National University Hospital, from Jan. 1979 to Dec. 1982.
In 8 cases, the viability of the flap was exallent but in only one case, the flap was not viable.
So we recommend immediate deltopectoral flap rather than delay flap for reconstruction of
the defect during neck dissection.
